Campground caretakers are an important part of keeping Lane County’s campgrounds welcoming and ready for visitors. Lane County Parks is looking for a new caretaker at the popular Armitage Campground.

“Being a caretaker is a great opportunity for people who love the outdoors, who enjoy working with a wide variety of people, and who appreciate providing an important public service,” said Lane County Parks Interim Supervising Analyst Michelle Hunt. “At Armitage, which is open year-round, it’s an especially important position because the park is so popular with locals and visitors alike.”

Armitage Campground is located just north of Eugene city limits along Coburg Road. The 64-acre grounds include 32 RV spaces and 8 tent sites, 2 group campsites, a boat ramp, dog park, day use and picnic areas, as well as restroom, shower and laundry facilities.

The caretaker role includes managing the day-to-day operations of the day use area and campground. Common tasks are park host management, accounting and reservations, general maintenance and landscaping, customer service and minor concessions.

The selected caretaker will reside in a home on-site.

The contract will be for a three-year period from November 1, 2020 through October 31, 2023 with two one-year renewal options available. Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2020.

Applicants with additional questions should contact Michelle Hunt at 541-682-3492.
