Property transfer staff process real estate ownership changes and maintain taxpayer records for assessment and taxation purposes. This is primarily done through recorded documents obtained from the Lane County Deeds & Records office. Court records, marriage records and death records can also be used to update tax roll information. Copies of documents establishing ownership changes not recorded at Deeds & Records should be provided to our office as staff does not access information from other sources. If a name changes due to marriage or a name should be removed because of death, our office can update the tax roll upon notification. However, to legally execute a name change on real estate title, the parties may want to consider recording the appropriate documents at the Lane County Deeds & Records office. Interested parties who believe errors or discrepancies exist in owners records or who have related questions or concerns should contact our office during business hours.
