ONA (Oregon Needs Assessment)

Medicaid funded services require people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to have a needs assessment interview to receive services. The assessment interview can be done in your home, in our office, or virtually through Microsoft Teams.

In the past, Oregon used several needs assessments and other tools to identify needs, risks and level of care. At the request of the Oregon Legislature, a single assessment tool was created to make moves between services easier.

This new tool is the Oregon Needs Assessment — or ONA.

Below are additional sections of information about the ONA, and tools that Lane County uses to schedule and conduct ONA meetings. Please let us know if there is other information you would like to see.

Using Microsoft Teams with ONA's (Tools and Tips)

Lane County DD Services used Microsoft Teams for Video Conferencing. If you have an ONA scheduled using Teams, here are some documents that will help you prepare for a successful video call.

The ONA and in-home hours

The Oregon Needs Assessment interview is used to determine your service group. The service group sets the range of hours available for support. Follow this link to go to the ODDS page In-Home Hours: Information for Individuals and Families.
