Civil Marriage Ceremonies

Civil Ceremonies will be performed most Fridays. To schedule, call 541-682-3654 or visit Lane County Deeds & Records Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. We are located in the Public Service Building on the corner of 8th Avenue and Pearl Street.

A Civil Ceremony is a legal function of the County Clerk’s office to solemnize marriages. In Oregon, a ceremony of some kind is required to make your marriage official. A Civil Ceremony is a low-cost, secular option.

  • Fees: The fee for a Civil Ceremony at the Clerk’s Office is $117. Payment is due at the time of scheduling and is non-refundable. We accept cash, check, money order, or credit card (with a 3% processing fee).
  • Timing: Each ceremony is given a 45-minute time slot. This includes time to finalize your license paperwork, and have the Clerk solemnize your marriage. If you are more than fifteen (15) minutes late, your ceremony may be canceled. We are unable to delay your ceremony to accommodate late guests.

  • Witnesses: You must bring 2 witnesses for your ceremony.

  • Guests: You may have up to 10 guests attend your ceremony.

  • Marriage License: You must have a valid marriage license that is effective on the date of your ceremony. If you obtained your license from another county, you must bring it with you to your ceremony appointment.

    • A ceremony appointment cannot be scheduled until a marriage license has been purchased.

  • Cancelations: If you cancel or miss your appointment, your fee is non-refundable.
