Preparedness is a Priority
​Being prepared for disasters, natural or man-made, is a public health priority.

Lane County Public Health (LCPH) collaborates with emergency preparedness leaders at the local, state and federal levels. Emergency preparedness and response plans are developed, exercised and revised to improve local responses to bioterrorism, chemical emergencies, infectious disease outbreaks, natural disasters, and other health risks.

LCPH works with healthcare organizations and other agencies across our county to assist in preparedness education, identify community needs, and maximize existing preparedness resources and networks.

What can you do?

  • Stay informed
  • Practice good health habits - get immunized, eat a balanced diet, exercise, and get enough rest
  • Don't spread germs - cover your coughs and sneezes with your arm and wash your hands often
  • Stay away from sick people. If you are ill, stay away from others
  • Have plans in place for yourself, your family, church, business or school in order to be prepared for and respond to emergency situations

    Lane County Public Health is a member of the Lane Preparedness Coalition. Lane Preparedness Coalition has a wide variety of information and resources available. Check us out, or better yet, join us! We host quarterly trainings on local issues. LPC is open to anyone in the community and it is all free.

    The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has comprehensive information on how to prepare for a wide variety of specific hazards, including Natural Disasters, Bioterrorism, Chemical and Radiation emergencies. Check out their pages by clicking here.
